Member Boats Under Construction...

Scooter, F-25A PROJECT

by Mike Wright and Pat Pilages

This is the construction of a Farrier,  F-25A.  In mid-November 2000 Mike sent the following comments about the project:

"We started the project over 7 years ago, as I have a small child there is a limited about of time I can work on it a week. Someday we will finish. The project started at my house in north Seattle, we have since moved to Mercer Island. The move cost us about months of building. This last summer it was at Wayne's while I fixed the old garage (removed the temporary extension) and sold the house. Towards the end of the summer I spent 14 weeks fairing the main hull below the gunwale. This took about 20 hours a week. A lot more work than I had envisioned though I am happy with the results. The boat will be moved into my new garage this weekend. We hope to launch next summer. The main hull is about complete as you can tell. The floats are done. The beams are done as well as the rig. It is mainly about finishing and then fit out. The interior probably will not be done till the following summer. At this point I just want to sail the boat. I can't believe it has been over 7 years. I think we will have spent 3000 hrs building the boat when finished. It is the third F-25A built by a club member. Jack Kinney and David Lund have finished theirs."

Ann Erickson writes:

"With the main hull ready to move back to Mikes house after painting it, they loaded it on the trailer.  Somehow it happened to be the night of our September club meeting and it was show and tell, so they stopped by and showed it off.  Here are club members milling around inspecting their work and generally enjoying the late summer evening. That's Randy "torture testing" the stern section."
